4 Negative Words
Great Black Belts Avoid!

All GREAT Black Belts learn that the words they use, especially when they are talking to "themselves," make a HUGE impact on their lives and their success!

Using these NEGATIVE words limit you, and cause you to focus on what can't be done, rather than what CAN be done!

Avoid using these negative words with others and ESPECIALLY yourself!

1. No:

Instead of finding what you can't do, it's important for you to see the opportunity that is hiding in any challenge. If your instructor asked if you can kick "head high," telling him or her "no" immediately makes your brain "give up." If you answered "I'll try," your brain will give you the power to try!

2. Can

Word of the Month: Attitude

“The greatest discovery of any generation is that a human being can alter their attitude.”
William James

One of your greatest powers as a human being is to change your life for either better or worse during every stage of your adult life. In fact, you can start to make that change right now, today, if you decide to alter your attitude.

Regardless of how you define success and happiness, you must have the right attitude to achieve your goals. You control your attitude either to foster growth and opportunity or create chaos and uncertainty. Only you can make those adjustments of attitude that will lead toward a future of your choosing.

What is our Potential?

The popularity of martial arts training can be attributed to its appeal to many age groups.

Because the martial arts have such a diverse following, individual progress and expectation can vary greatly among students. For this reason, especially, it is important to understand your potential and only compare your achievements to your possibilities.

Expertise in the martial arts comes with years of continuous training; however, you may never be able to execute a flying side kick across a room or fall into a full 180-degree split, which is okay. You can still be a successful martial artist with great physical and mental skills.

A middle-aged man, who is a martial arts student, had only one arm. One could argue that having only one arm was a disadvantage that would severely affect his martial arts abilities. In reality, Frank possessed incredible leg strength and hip control that produced very powerful kicks, which made him a great fighter and martial artist.

There are also martial artists who could be described as

Eating Right: How To Lower Cholesterol

Eating Right: How To Lower Cholesterol

It is important to eat the right foods in order to lower your LDL cholesterol levels. By choosing foods that naturally lower LDL cholesterol, you are reducing your risk of heart attacks and strokes. The following article will provide you with some natural foods that you can use in your cooking to ensure your LDL cholesterol levels remain healthy!

You can lower LDL cholesterol levels by 8 to 20 percent just by consuming different types of nuts. Try eating one ounce of any type of nut for at least one month to see significant changes. Nuts also aid in keeping your blood vessels healthy. Nuts you should try are: almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, pecans and peanuts.

Not only are beans and other legumes great for lowering your levels of cholesterol, but they add the benefits of soluble fiber. For example, every half cup of lima beans you cook, they provide 3.5 grams of good fiber. In a recent study, it was concluded that if someone eats a half cup of dried pinto beans every single day for 12 weeks, their LDL cholesterol levels will decrease by 7 percent.

Omega-3 fatty acids that are found naturally in fish are great for lowering cholesterol as well. The types of fish that you should seek out in your local grocery are: wild mackerel, Nordic sardines and Alaskan salmon. Your chosen fish types should be fatty, wild and cold-water fish. It also helps if you choose to take an Omega-3 supplement. Local stores now offer eggs with naturally infused Omega-3 oils inside.

Alcohol is able to raise HDL cholesterol levels and lower LDL levels. By drinking red wine, you can lower your levels of LDL cholesterol by 5 to 15 percent. If you are not a fan of drinking wine, grape juice is able to offer some of the same heart healthy benefits.

In a recent study, it was proven that people who were at risk for heart disease were able to lower cholesterol levels by consuming cocoa. Chocoholics will be happy to hear that consuming dark chocolate or cocoa powder will reduce their chances of heart disease. When you are consuming dark chocolates, make sure that what you are eating is at least 60 percent chocolate. It can be easy to think that everything made of dark chocolate is okay to eat. However, most chocolates are still high in fats and contain a lot of sugar.

Green tea has been scientifically proven to lower your LDL cholesterol in 14 consecutive studies. In these studies, participants who drank green tea lowered their LDL cholesterol levels by 7.20 mg/dL. It hasn’t been entirely proven, but green tea supplements may also help.

It is important that when you strive to stay healthy, you don’t neglect the health of your heart. This article has discussed some natural foods that you can include in your everyday cooking to lower your LDL cholesterol. Keep in mind what you have learned today to ensure that you are on the road to a healthy heart!

Healthy Regards
