It’s hard to make time to exercise, so you want to make every workout the best possible. Check out these reliable tips for improving your workouts:
Vary your workout program. If you perform the same exercises day after day, your body will get used to them and will no longer be as challenged. It works to change up the exercises because it makes the muscles work extra hard to compensate for the new challenges, all of which requires more calories and builds new muscle. Prevent injury at all costs. This is one more reason to develop a love for several different sports–you’ll prevent yourself from wearing out your joints or building muscle in one area but neglecting another. It’s best to invest in at least three different forms of exercise, such as running, yoga, and aerobic dancing, all of which you do every week. Make sure your exercise program includes both resistance training and aerobic exercise. Try to engage in resistance training twice a week and cardio three to five days a week. Make sure you rest in between resistance training work outs, and push yourself in aerobic workouts by alternating a fast, hard pace with a moderate pace. Challenge yourself more as time goes by. Don’t start out any new fitness program with too much zeal, or you’ll find yourself so sore you can’t stand to work out the next day. You’ll also put yourself at risk of injury. Start out exercising at a level that feels challenging, but only leaves you moderately sore. Increase your level of exercise as you progress, always seeking that level of moderate soreness. If you can’t tell you exercised the day before, you didn’t challenge yourself enough. You forced yourself to work too hard if you need to take painkillers to get through the next two days. Don’t be afraid to ask for instruction. Always ask for help when using new equipment in the gym. Make sure you know how to perform cardio exercises properly so you won’t hurt yourself and will make the most of your exercise sessions.
