Eating the right things is one of the most important parts of making sure that you remain healthy. Even though we usually think of “eating healthy” as including fruits and vegetables as part of our regular eating routine, there are actually a lot of other foods that offer huge health benefits! Tuna fish is one such food that is extremely beneficial for your body, and what’s more, it is both inexpensive and easy to prepare!

Up until about one hundred years ago, tuna was thought to be unfit to eat, but now it is one of the most prevalent fish on the market. The health benefits of eating tuna – which, of course, is absolutely fit to eat – are truly extraordinary!

One of the big benefits of tuna is stroke prevention; in fact, those who eat tuna one to four times per week have been shown to be 27% less likely to suffer strokes than those who do not. Tuna fish also helps to lower blood pressure, because of the presence of beneficial omega-3 fatty acid in the tuna that you eat. Best of all, tuna has the ability to keep your brain strong and healthy; those who eat tuna twice per week have been proven to be less susceptible to both dementia and Alzheimer’s than those who eat tuna less than once per month – with the gap between the likelihood of these afflictions being enormous!

Look for tuna that is as fresh as possible, as some minerals are lost during the canning process; canned tuna, however, is still excellent for you, and it is a great alternative to buying the tuna fresh. Many people fail to realize just how beneficial tuna truly is, as they imagine that the lean protein of tuna is the only true benefit; but the benefits stretch much further than that!

If you are pregnant or nursing, you should avoid tuna and any other large, predatory fish, because these fish are high in mercury. If you are not pregnant or nursing, however, you are safe to start incorporating tuna into your diet, and in time you can watch the future of your health improve dramatically!
